Charismatic Prayer Group
We are brothers and sisters in Christ who pray for one another, as well as support and encourage one another to a deeper experience of love, faith and obedience to Jesus through the working of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We meet every Monday from 7:30-9:00 p.m. for spiritual enrichment and renewal. Every gathering starts with Praise and Worship to God for His unconditional love and abundant blessings poured out on us each day.
Our Lady of Fatima
We also pray the rosary novena to Our Lady of Fatima, on First Saturdays after the morning Mass. On request, we say rosary novenas for the dead in their homes.
Our Lady of Guadalupe
The Our Lady of Guadalupe Ministry honors Our Mother by preparing for her feast day on December 12th, celebrating her apparition as Our Lady of Guadalupe. This Ministry meets every second Saturday of the month praying the rosary novena after the 8am Mass. The Our Lady of Guadalupe Ministry is on the mission to spread the message of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The same message she shared with St. Juan Diego many centuries ago, that she is Mother of God and Mother of all. In 1531, Our Lady of Guadalupe called St. Juan Diego as her own son, sharing her motherhood to not only to him but for all. She asked St. Juan Diego to create a chapel on the hill of Tepeyac so that the world may know that they have a Mother who’s praying for them. We pray that people will open their hearts to Our Lady of Guadalupe as Mother, where then she will guide her children to her Son, Jesus Christ. "Know, know for sure, my dearest, littlest, and youngest son, that I am the perfect and ever Virgin Holy Mary, Mother of the God of truth through Whom everything lives, the Lord of all things near us, the Lord of heaven and earth." - Our Lady of Guadalupe
Adoration
St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church offers Adoration of our Lord 6 days a week.
What is Adoration?
When Catholics say they are “going to Adoration,” they are typically referring to Eucharistic Adoration. Which, in the most basic terms, is the worship of the Eucharist outside of the Mass. The Eucharistic Host is displayed in a monstrance on the altar so that all can see and pray in the presence of Christ.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us that, “Adoration is the first attitude of man acknowledging that he is a creature before his Creator. It exalts the greatness of the Lord who made us and the almighty power of the Savior who sets us free from evil. Adoration is homage of the spirit to the “King of Glory, “respectful silence in the presence of the “ever greater” God. Adoration of the thrice-holy and sovereign God of love blends with humility and gives assurance to our supplications.” (CCC 2628)
We can show our adoration to God in many ways, but in Eucharistic Adoration, we spend time adoring the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
Are there rules for Adoration?
As a form of respect, you should always genuflect when you see the Lord in the Host. Maintain an attitude of respect, and if others are present, silence. On retreats or other special occasions, there may be music playing to help foster a spirit of prayer, worship, and Adoration. Always keep in mind that you are in the presence of God! All of our “devices” should be silenced or off as we focus our attention on Jesus and quiet our minds and hearts
Kneeling, sitting, standing, and even laying on the floor before the Blessed Sacrament are all appropriate forms of prayer. Let your posture reflect your worship of the King and do what is comfortable for you.
You really don’t have to “do” anything during Adoration. You can just sit there and look at Jesus. Take the time to be with Him. If you are the only person in the chapel, don’t be afraid to pray or sing aloud. This is your personal time with Christ.
