Grade School Classes (K - 5th)

Thank you for your interest in Religious Education at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church! Religious Education is Catholic catechesis for baptized Catholics in Kindergarten to grade 5. Religious Education also includes catechetical preparation for sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Eucharist. The Diocese of Honolulu requires the completion of 30 hours of catechetical preparation to receive these sacraments. After which, the pastor and parochial vicar will make the final determination on sacramental preparedness of children. For children who are preparing for their sacraments, family participation in retreats, parent sessions, rehearsals, and liturgical celebrations are required. Religious Education is on Sundays during the school year from 7:45AM to 8:45AM.

To complete the registration process for Religious Education:

  1. Register as parishioners at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church. Families, please register as parishioners via the church website.
  2. Register children for Religious Education at St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church. Please register your children for Religious Education via the church website. Religious Education registration must be completed every school year. To register: Grades K - 5
    • Submit a copy of your child’s Baptism, First Holy Communion (if applicable), and Confirmation (if applicable) certificates.
  3. $40 registration fee. The registration fee covers the cost of the textbook and supplies.
    • No one will be denied Religious Education for financial reasons. Please speak with the Director of Religious Education for special considerations. Fees are non-refundable. Please submit payment via cash or check payable to St. John Apostle & Evangelist Catholic Church.
